Have you ever noticed that there is a white fungus on the leaves of your plant? Has this ever bothered you?
Well, this could actually be in part to a few different issues, including mildew or even rust. While this isn’t necessarily a huge problem, there can be a few consequences, as well as some problems moving forward with the growth of the plant. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to prevent these problems. Let’s take a look at them and the severity of each one.
One of the most common reasons for a white fungus on your plants is a powdery mildew. This could be caused by many different organisms; however, it typically thrives in high relative humidity areas, which promotes this disease and its growth. Hosing the plants with water should get rid of this, but if it doesn’t, you may want to treat them with natural products. This could include anything from baking soda to oils.
This rust can occur as white blisters on the plants, which will need to be removed. If you are seeing this rust on your plant, you will want to remove it, and if you are seeing it on the entire plant, you will need to remove it and destroy it before it spreads further.
This type of mildew is typically affecting to smaller plants, so if you have a larger plant, the chances of it getting this are small. It is only fatal to very small and tender seedlings. This should not be too much of a problem with larger trees but can occur.
